If you are planning a party, then you might also be thinking about the decorations.
Bubbles go well with almost any theme, but what about all of the other party
supplies? Here are a few ideas that may help.
For the best price on assorted decorations, try looking at a dollar store or
discount/overstocked/etc. type of store. The selections tend to be a bit more
generic in nature, but the prices are often great for things like streamers, balloons,
party favors, and the like. They often carry an assortment of general party themes
&/or festive solid color items (plates, cups, etc.) However, if you are looking for a
specific popular theme, this may not be the place to look.
WalMart - I suppose this would apply to many department stores, but WalMart is the
one I'm more familiar with... At any rate, they seem to have good prices and a bit
larger selection. They have some generic party items for a good price, as well as a
limited selection of popular themed products for slightly more money. I expect their
research staff is pretty good at choosing popular themes and they usually seem to
carry products from several of the most popular TV/movie/etc. characters for kids
birthday party themes.
You can also mix and match to save a few bucks and still keep a general theme.
That is, you might opt for SpongeBob plates, cups, napkins,... and maybe the table
cover. And add to that balloons, streamers, noise makers, favors, etc. of a general
birthday theme.
If you want a larger selection (probably for slightly more cost), then look for a local
store that specializes in party supplies or look for them online. Ebay is often a
good place to look for good deals on party sets, although you may have to wait a
few extra days for auctions to end. There are also lots of websites that often have
the largest assortment of themes, etc. You'll pay a little extra for shipping and have
a slight wait, but many of them likely make fast shipment a high priority. Besides
large selections they are usually hard to beat in terms of convenience. Two places
that come to mind are Shindigz and Birthday Express.
If you're searching online try various combinations of some of the following
phrases; party supplies, kids birthday party supplies, supplies for children's
parties, birthday party favors, decorations, games, ideas,etc... Anyway, I'm sure
you get the idea. The point is that you can find a larger assortment of suppliers by
using a larger assortment of search phrases. If you need more ideas, look for
online for free "search term suggestion tools" such as the ones that both Google
and Yahoo use for their advertisers.
